How To Move With Small Children
Moving is a stressful and difficult process for anyone, but it can be especially hard if you have small children. But don’t despair, and instead, try to learn some tips on packing up the house in advance of moving day; find the ideas for keeping kids entertained during the move; plan things to do before you move out of your current home; and finally what to do once you get into your new place. Tower Moving Company can help you do that!
First, start packing up the house before you actually move to make it easier and more efficient. Make a list of things that need to be packed for your family, then start tackling the biggest items first and work your way down from there.
Second, keep kids entertained during the move by loading their favorite CD or playlist on an iPod so they can sing along with songs all day long while doing their job helping pack boxes or singing nursery rhymes; consider what activities might be good to try in transit between homes–you could play games like I Spy, license plate bingo, “I am going on vacation” charades (with destinations), etc.; if you have children who are old enough help out with moving tasks ask them for ideas about how they would like to help; or if you’re planning on staying in a hotel, fill up your child’s suitcase with their favorites so they don’t feel abandoned.
Third, plan things to do before you move out of your current home: give the kids keys and tell them that it is now their house; start making “New Home” signs for when it becomes necessary to post on doors that lead outside (put these somewhere visible like by the front door); make sure everyone has transportation already scheduled as soon as you know moving day will be around the corner–if not pack at least one extra set of clothes per person just in case something happens during transit between homes and this includes adults too!
